Normally tears are formed by Lacrimal gland constantly. They lubricate cornea and conjunctiva, provide nutrition and take away waist products. Due to pollution,several types of oral drugs, infrequent blinking or some systemic disease, tear formation decreases and person feels foreign body sensation, grittiness and some discharge. This problem is more in ladies at the age of 40-45 years with menopause. More the age more the incidence. Almost 10-20 percent of population after 40 years suffer from this disease. Young computer users get this disease. Tear substitutes are used for temp relief. Cyclosporin may improve the condition but permanent cure not possible.
